Hello...
I’m Yoko Nakagawa. I am an executive coach, who specializes in helping those who work in high-tech and startup environments, particularly those in product development and engineering roles. My coaching focuses on the balance between “being” and “doing” which are both essential energies of life and are sometimes in conflict with each other. I am passionate about assisting and supporting my clients as they transform their lives and reach the goals they have set for themselves.
Life CoachingThrough coaching, I help my clients identify and uncover their strengths and passions, become inspired, believe in themselves, stay focused, and really pursue their biggest dreams. I am a Co-Active Coach® certified by CTI (The Coaches Training Institute of San Rafael, CA). “Co” represents "being" and “Active” represents “doing”. Together, “Co-Active” represents the paradoxical balance between these two primary energies of life.
To all my clients, my life coaching practice brings compassion, optimism, integrity, creativity, intuition, practicality, business insight, and a lifetime of experience. |
Professional CoachingI specialize in coaching high-tech entrepreneurs and engineers who strive to develop groundbreaking, innovative products and who want clarity and help with prioritizing during the development process. I endeavor to build a trusting relationship with my clients, which is critical for creative, risk-taking innovation. With twelve years of experience as a high-tech product manager, I understand the product development process and can connect with and support my clients during that process. I believe such a supportive and creative partnership can enhance my clients’ imagination and help them develop the courage needed to reach their goals.
My career experience as a product manager for international versions of industry-leading software packages has also given me unique insight into the intricacies and implications of working in cross-cultural environments. I continue to work with people who have different cultural backgrounds. I strive to help my clients work more efficiently and harmoniously in this global workplace. |
How do you know if coaching is right for you?
To determine whether you could benefit from coaching, start by summarizing what you would expect to accomplish in coaching. When you have a fairly clear idea of your desired outcome, a coaching partnership can be a useful tool for developing a strategy for how to achieve that outcome with greater ease.
Since coaching is a partnership, ask yourself whether collaboration, support, and recognizing other viewpoints and perspectives would be valuable. Also, ask yourself whether you are ready to devote the time and the energy to making real changes. If the answer is yes, then coaching may be a beneficial way to grow and develop. I encourage you to contact me to see how I can be of help you.

Certification: CPCC (CTI) PCC (ICF) ORSCC (CRR Global Organization and Relationship System Certified Coach) TLCCP (The Leadership Circle Certified Practitioner) Myers-Briggs Type Indicator Certified Practitioner I was born and raised in Tokyo, Japan. I moved to the U.S. in 1996 and have lived in the San Francisco Bay area--the heart of Silicon Valley--ever since. Prior to coaching, my career was focused on corporate marketing and business development. I worked for one of the most successful computer graphic software companies in California, where I started as a product manager and was eventually promoted to be in charge of numerous software packages for a range of geographies and languages. Responsible for this global market, I flew all over the world to meet customers and colleagues. One day I realized I was spending half of my time away from home and I had to ask myself if this was how I wanted to spend the rest of my life. At that moment, my journey of searching for what I truly wanted in my life began…. During the 20 years of my corporate career, I always had structure. It was a big transition for me to go from working in organizations which had all sorts of goals, plans and schedules to a solo operation in which I get to do anything I want. I, however, realized that it was challenging to be disciplined, motivated and clear about what I was doing. This was when I needed coaching help myself. I learned that I could not reach all of my goals on my own. I needed other people to help me. This was a profound discovery for me. Looking back now, it seems all my life experiences were important, and in some way led me to coaching. These experiences also allow me to better support and assist my clients. I want to stand beside my clients as they go through the same experiences I went through and want to celebrate their successes with them. I really enjoy seeing clients get inspired to do more than they thought possible. |
